Green Mountain High School is an award-winning, college- and career-preparatory school with a proven track record for helping students realize their full potential. Since opening its doors in 1973, the school’s leadership, staff and teachers have worked together to cultivate a school environment anchored in academic and athletic excellence, social responsibility and student camaraderie.

With more than 50 years of experience, Green Mountain High School continues to build upon its founding mission, charting new pathways to reinvigorate, challenge and inspire students. This is achieved by staying true to four founding principles that even today, accurately summarize the school’s daily mission.

Ram Head for Light Background
  • Provide a rigorous academic environment that challenges students to make sense of what they learn, be self-directed, and be curious about their future.
  • Foster relevance by ensuring that all learning is relevant to a student’s future, to the world in which they live in and will be working in the near future.
  • Develop meaningful and authentic relationships between students and teachers built on trust, mutual respect and compassion.
  • Drive tangible results by empowering students to fully engage in their high school experience, from academics and sports to civic duty and personal growth.

Our Beginning | Green Mountain High School was built in 1973 during a time of high growth in the Denver area. The school was one of three high schools that were built as "temporary" facilities to meet the community’s growing needs. The goal was that once the district finalized its plans for the area’s school system, Green Mountain High School, along with the other two schools, would be replaced. That was more than 50 years ago, and all three schools are still standing today.

The floor plans were designed with the "open-concept" classroom layout, which today continues to prove useful. Classroom walls are movable so rooms can be combined to accommodate student growth or communal classroom learning setups. In 1995, Green Mountain High School underwent a renovation effort, which significantly expanded the school, adding a second level, the math-science wing, front offices and auditorium.

Green Mountain High School Song

A victory is what we’re after
We’ll get it too
For RAMS are best
We show it each day through
So raise your Black and Gold banners
To the sky
Green Mountain RAMS

We’re with you all the way!
