Counseling
Green Mountain High School helps students chart their course toward a bright postsecondary future.
Mission Statement
We empower our students to be resilient, curious and compassionate by nurturing meaningful relationships.
What Does a High School Counselor Do?
The GMHS Counseling Department’s mission is to work with all students to help them become productive citizens and lifelong learners by advocating for the unique needs of students and families within the Green Mountain community.
Counselors work with students in three domains: academic, career and social-emotional development. We present to large groups, work with teachers to do classroom lessons, provide small group counseling, and meet with students and families individually to meet students' needs within each of the domains.
College and Career Readiness Standards
Similar to classroom teachers, counselors help students achieve benchmark standards set forth by the American School Counseling Association (ASCA). These standards guide our practice as counselors as we help students reach their full potential as learners and as members of society.
