Contextual Learning
Geometry in Construction
In Geometry in Construction we grow our math understanding by learning how math topics relate directly to the entire construction industry by building one house in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. In this class we will work together to create a caring environment where each of us is valued and appreciated for the unique characteristics and attributes we individually bring to class daily. At the end of the year students will walk away with two industry certifications and a potential 5 concurrent enrollment construction college credits).
AMPED on Algebra
Taking a contextual approach by applying Algebra 1 in Manufacturing Processes, Entrepreneurship and Design where the math is not watered down. In fact, the AMPED on Algebra program contains all objectives and standards delivered in a traditional 4-wall Algebra 1 classroom and will be taught through real world, project based lessons, labs, and activities creating a richer, more robust learning environment for students. We believe rigor, relevance, and relationships are key to the success of our students. Additionally, AMPED on Algebra is fully aligned with the national standards.
Video Production
In Video Production, students learn about pre-production, production and post-production by making their own short films. Students will learn about screenwriting, cinematography, story-telling and editing through these projects, as well as studying different films.
