Marching band is intended to develop students‘ technique for playing brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments and cover appropriate marching band literature styles, primarily for marching performances. The Green Mountain High School Marching Rams include student musicians and the GMHS Color Guard.
The Green Mountain High School Marching Rams demonstrate excellence both on and off the field and have been consistent top competitors, earning many marching titles at local and regional competitions. They were Colorado State Marching Band Finalists 27 years in a row, the longest consecutive streak in the state! The GMHS Marching Rams have been State Marching Band Champions 2 times and Regional Marching Band Champions 15 times. In 2014 and 2015, they took 3rd place at the Colorado State Marching Band Championships.
The Marching Rams currently compete in the Colorado Bandmasters Association's class 3A. Information about the CBA's class assignments, judging information and rules, marching festival results, and the state regional and championship events is posted at www.cbamarching.com.
The Marching Rams start rehearsing June. In the fall, they rehearse after school twice a week and on Saturdays. They perform in the homecoming parade and at home varsity football games and they compete in up to 5 marching contests during the fall. The Marching Rams program is open to all students.
